Wode Maya and Miss Trudy Announce Pregnancy After Six Miscarriages

Popular Ghanaian YouTuber Wode Maya and his Kenyan wife, content creator Miss Trudy, have announced they are expecting a child, bringing hope and joy after years of heartbreaking fertility struggles that included six miscarriages.

The emotional announcement, shared on social media on January 11, 2026, has moved thousands of fans across Africa and beyond, with many celebrating the couple’s perseverance and sharing their own similar experiences.

Wode Maya, whose real name is Berthold Kobina Winkler Ackon, revealed that in September 2021, the couple was told they could not have children. Despite this devastating news, just three months later in December 2021, he proposed to Miss Trudy, born Gertrude Awino Njeri Juma.

The couple proceeded to marry in September 2022, a date that carried profound emotional significance. They wed on the same day Miss Trudy lost her mother 13 years earlier, adding both sorrow and hope to their union.

Following their marriage, the couple faced repeated heartbreak. They experienced six miscarriages over the years, a journey that Wode Maya described as testing their faith and resilience.

In a candid YouTube video released after a seven-month social media hiatus, Miss Trudy explained that the couple chose to keep four of the miscarriages private, not wanting to stress their families. Her father knew of only two miscarriages, as did Wode Maya’s mother, as they made the difficult decision to shoulder much of the burden alone.

Miss Trudy also addressed critics who had blamed her husband for her absence from social media, revealing she had been battling depression. She praised Wode Maya for his unwavering support during her recovery, stating he had sacrificed significantly for her wellbeing.

In his announcement, Wode Maya reflected on their journey with deep emotion. “Through every challenge, every loss, and every tear, our journey is a testimony of resilience, faith, and hope. God is the greatest,” he wrote.

The pregnancy announcement included elegant photos showing Miss Trudy’s baby bump, though the couple has not disclosed how far along she is in her pregnancy. According to reports, Wode Maya traveled to Florida, USA, where Miss Trudy is preparing to welcome their baby.

Wode Maya, 31, is one of Africa’s most influential content creators, known for his travel vlogs that highlight positive African narratives and development stories across the continent. His moniker comes from the Mandarin expression “wǒ de mā ya,” meaning “Oh, my mom!” — a reflection of his time studying aeronautical engineering in China, where he began his vlogging career.

Miss Trudy, 30, is a successful Kenyan travel content creator and businesswoman who has invested in the Airbnb sector. The couple met in Ethiopia when Wode Maya invited her to create content there, beginning a relationship that has now spanned nearly five years.

The pregnancy announcement has generated an outpouring of support from fans and fellow content creators across social media platforms. Many users shared their own stories of fertility struggles, with one commenter noting they experienced four losses between 2021 and 2024 before welcoming a child.

“This should be a lesson to those who lost loved ones because of blood group wahala. There’s nothing God cannot do,” one supporter wrote, while another added, “Be nice to people they say. Everyone is fighting something. Wow who would have known they went through this.”

The couple’s openness about their fertility journey has resonated particularly strongly in African communities, where discussions about miscarriage and infertility often remain taboo.

As the couple prepares to welcome their first child, their story serves as a powerful reminder of perseverance in the face of adversity. Their decision to share their struggles publicly has not only brought them support but has also opened conversations about fertility challenges that many couples face in silence.

Wode Maya and Miss Trudy’s journey from being told they couldn’t have children to now expecting their first baby stands as a testament to hope, faith, and the strength of their partnership through one of life’s most difficult challenges.
