Tanzanian music star Harmonize has finally opened up about why he did not include any Kenyan artists in his first three studio albums — a move that had left many East African fans puzzled, especially considering his strong ties to the region.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Speaking candidly, Harmonize clarified that the omission was not intentional. He explained that despite being the Bongo Flava artist with arguably the most collaborations with Kenyan musicians, he never approached his album-making process with a fixed plan or strategy.
“Honestly, I never really had a structured plan for my first three albums. I was just creating music based on the moment and the vibe,” Harmonize stated.
Over the years, the “Single Again” hitmaker has collaborated with several Kenyan artists on singles and features, including Willy Paul, Otile Brown, and Khaligraph Jones, helping strengthen the bond between Tanzanian and Kenyan music scenes. His absence of Kenyan names in his albums had, however, been noticed by fans who expected more official collaborations within the body of work.
Looking ahead, Harmonize confirmed that his upcoming fourth studio album will mark a significant shift — both creatively and geographically.
The project, which he described as a pan-African collaboration, will include a feature from Kenya’s Bien-Aimé Baraza, one of the most prominent members of Sauti Sol.
“This time I wanted to be more intentional. Bien is someone I respect so much musically. I’m excited for the world to hear what we’ve cooked up,” Harmonize shared.
In addition to Bien, Harmonize hinted that the new album will feature other major artists from across the continent, blending different sounds, cultures, and musical identities to create a diverse and dynamic record.
The announcement has sparked excitement among fans who have long hoped for more structured and meaningful collaborations between East African artists.
Harmonize’s decision to be more deliberate with his next album shows a maturation in his artistry — one that aligns with his growing influence across Africa.
As anticipation builds for the fourth album, many are eager to see how Harmonize bridges the musical worlds of Bongo Flava, Afrobeats, and East African soul. One thing is certain: with artists like Bien on the lineup, this upcoming project could be his most impactful yet.
