A tragic incident occurred along Thika Road near Kahawa Wendani, where a passenger lost his life after allegedly being pushed out of a moving Super Metro bus during a fare dispute.

Gilbert fell onto the tarmac and was run over by the same bus, dying on the spot.
Eyewitnesses confirmed that the argument preceded the fatal incident. Following the tragedy, traffic officers impounded the bus, and the driver was taken into custody, while the conductor fled and is currently being sought by authorities.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with Kenyans demanding justice and stricter regulations on public transport. Many have criticized the conduct of matatu crew members, calling for better enforcement of passenger safety measures.
Super Metro, however, denied the allegations, claiming that the deceased attempted to alight while the bus was still moving and lost his footing, leading to the accident.
Gilbert’s family in Murang’a County is demanding justice, urging authorities to take action against rogue matatu operators.
The case has reignited concerns over safety in Kenya’s public transport sector, with calls for urgent reforms to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
