Jay-Z Files Lawsuit Against Attorney Tony Buzbee Over Extortion Claims

Jay-Z, the iconic rapper and business mogul, has taken legal action against attorney Tony Buzbee, alleging extortion in a 236-page lawsuit.

The legal battle emerges amidst serious accusations leveled against both Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs, with Buzbee representing over 200 alleged victims in cases against Combs.

The Allegations and Response  

One of the accusers, identified as Jane Doe, claims she was 13 years old in 2000 when she was allegedly assaulted by Combs at a VMAs afterparty. She also accuses Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, of assault. Initially referred to as “Celebrity A,” Carter’s identity was disclosed in an updated lawsuit filed over the weekend.

Carter’s attorney, Alex Spiro, responded on Monday by filing a motion requesting that Jane Doe reveal her identity to proceed with litigation.

Spiro also submitted a copy of the extortion lawsuit that Jay-Z filed anonymously in November, revealing Carter as the plaintiff.

The extortion lawsuit accuses Buzbee of fabricating claims against Jay-Z, including allegations of sexual assault against both male and female minors.

“Defendants have threatened to unleash entirely fabricated and malicious allegations of sexual assault — including multiple instances of rape of a minor, both male and female — against Plaintiff if he refuses to comply with their demands,” the filing reads.

Claims of Extortion and Public Embarrassment 

Jay-Z’s lawsuit alleges that Buzbee is using baseless accusations as part of a calculated scheme to tarnish Carter’s reputation for financial gain.

The filing further states:  “These baseless accusations are nothing more than a weapon in a calculated plot to destroy Plaintiff’s high-profile reputation for profit, despite the complete absence of any factual basis for such claims.”

Buzbee, however, denies any wrongdoing and has accused Jay-Z of leading a campaign of “harassment” and “bullying” against him and his family.

He has publicly defended himself on social media, both when the initial lawsuit was filed and again after Jay-Z’s identity was disclosed.
