Released in March 2024, the album has been in development for over five years and was inspired by Beyoncé’s personal experiences of feeling unwelcome in certain spaces, which she mentioned in her announcement.
The project has been met with mixed reactions from the country music establishment, but her fans and many critics see it as an important milestone in genre-crossing music, further cementing Beyoncé’s reputation as a versatile artist.
While “Cowboy Carter” has made its mark on the charts, Beyoncé’s exploration of country music has yet to fully win over the CMT community, prompting some fans to voice their frustration on social media, accusing the awards show of sidelining her due to biases within the genre’s culture.
Nevertheless, Beyoncé’s country debut is a bold and successful venture into new musical territory.
Despite these successes, her presence at the 2024 CMT Awards was minimal, with no live performance and only a snippet of her music played during a commercial break, which disappointed many of her fans.
