Max Lousada, CEO of Recorded Music at Warner Music Group (WMG) since 2017, penned a farewell note to staff as he prepares to leave his position on September 30, 2024, while staying in an advisory role through January.

He highlighted his role in the careers of Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa, Bruno Mars, Coldplay, and David Guetta, among others.
He emphasized the importance of music, stating, “People who can make music that moves people are special. The world needs them.”
Lousada’s leadership helped guide Warner through significant milestones, such as its public listing in 2020 and acquisitions of 300 Entertainment, 10K Projects, and Spinnin Records.
His exit comes amid a restructuring led by WMG CEO Robert Kyncl, which also sees other top executives like Atlantic Music Group CEO Julie Greenwald stepping down.
In his note, Lousada thanked the artists, managers, and Warner team for their support, urging them to embrace the changes ahead, as music is “the sound of change.
” He closed with appreciation for his colleagues and hinted at a new chapter in his career, saying, “Whatever my next era looks like, I’ll always be rooting for you.”
His position as CEO will not be replaced, and Elliot Grainge will assume leadership of Atlantic Music Group from October 1.
